IMPORTANT: SCOPE OF THIS POLICY
This Order Cancellation Policy applies EXCLUSIVELY to orders placed through the San Diego Car Stereo website (sdcarstereo.com).
Why this matters:
- In-store purchases are completed immediately at the time of sale and cannot be "cancelled" in the traditional sense
- In-store purchases may be eligible for return or exchange according to our in-store policies. Please contact the store location where you made your purchase or speak with a store manager.
- This cancellation policy is designed specifically for online orders that have not yet been fulfilled or shipped
If you made an in-store purchase and wish to return or exchange it, please contact the store location where you made your purchase directly.

OVERVIEW
This Order Cancellation Policy explains the terms and conditions under which customers may cancel online orders placed with San Diego Car Stereo. By placing an order on our website, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
This policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service, Shipping Policy, and Returns & Refund Policy.
CANCELLATION WINDOW
San Diego Car Stereo processes and ships orders quickly to ensure prompt delivery. Because of our fast fulfillment process, order cancellations are only accepted within a limited timeframe.
Free Cancellation Period: 6-12 Hours
Customers may cancel their order free of charge if the cancellation request is submitted within 6-12 hours of placing the order.
Why the short window?
- We ship most orders the same business day or next business day
- Orders are processed and prepared for shipment immediately after placement
- Once an item is shipped, it cannot be recalled from the carrier
- Our goal is to get your products to you as quickly as possible
After 6-12 Hours But Before Shipment:
If you need to cancel after the 6-12 hour window but before your order has shipped, you must call us immediately at (619) 928-5622 during business hours. We will attempt to stop the shipment if possible, but this is not guaranteed. If we cannot stop the shipment, standard return procedures will apply.
HOW TO CANCEL YOUR ORDER
To request a cancellation, follow these steps immediately:
Step 1: Act Quickly
- Cancellation requests must be submitted within 6-12 hours of order placement
- Check your order confirmation email for the exact time your order was placed
Step 2: Contact Us
For cancellations within 6-12 hours: Email support@sdcarstereo.com with the following information:
- Subject Line: "ORDER CANCELLATION - [Your Order Number]"
- Your full name
- Order number (found in your confirmation email)
- Email address used for the purchase
- Brief reason for cancellation (optional but helpful)
For urgent cancellations after 6-12 hours but before shipment: Call us immediately at (619) 928-5622 during business hours. Email requests after the 6-12 hour window may not be processed in time.
Step 3: Await Confirmation
- We will review your cancellation request and confirm whether your order can be cancelled
- If your order has not yet been shipped, we will cancel it and issue a full refund
- If your order has already been shipped, we will notify you and provide return instructions
Response Time:
- Email cancellation requests (within 6-12 hours): We aim to respond within 2-4 business hours during business hours
- Phone cancellation requests (after 6-12 hours): Immediate response during business hours
- Requests submitted outside business hours will be processed the following business day

CANCELLATION ELIGIBILITY
Eligible for Free Cancellation:
- Orders where cancellation request is received within 6-12 hours of order placement
- Orders that have not yet been processed for shipment
- Orders that have not been assigned a tracking number
- Duplicate orders placed accidentally (see Duplicate Orders section)
May Be Eligible (Contact Required):
- Orders where cancellation request is received after 6-12 hours but before shipment (call us immediately at (619) 928-5622)
- Success depends on whether we can stop the fulfillment process in time
Not Eligible for Cancellation:
- Orders that have already been shipped (tracking number assigned)
- Orders that have been delivered
- Special orders or custom items (see Special Orders section below)
- Final sale, clearance, or "as-is" items
SPECIAL ORDERS AND CUSTOM ITEMS
IMPORTANT: Special orders and custom items are NON-CANCELLABLE once confirmed.
What are special orders? Special orders are items that are not currently in stock and must be ordered specifically for you from our suppliers or manufacturers. These items cannot be resold if you change your mind.
Special Order Process:
- When you place an order for an item that is not in stock, we will contact you by phone to inform you that it is a special order
- We will provide you with an estimated delivery timeframe for the special order item
- You must make a decision immediately: Proceed with the special order or cancel the order at no charge
- Once you confirm and give us authorization to proceed, the order becomes non-cancellable and non-returnable
- If you do not respond to our special order confirmation request within a reasonable timeframe, we may cancel the order
Special orders cannot be cancelled or returned for any reason once you have authorized us to proceed. Please make sure you are certain about your purchase before confirming a special order.
Examples of special orders:
- Out-of-stock items ordered from manufacturers
- Custom-built speaker boxes or enclosures
- Special configuration products
- Items not regularly stocked by San Diego Car Stereo
If you are unsure whether your order qualifies as a special order, we will clearly communicate this to you before processing.
CANCELLATIONS AFTER SHIPMENT
If your cancellation request is received after your order has already shipped, you have two options:
Option 1: Refuse Delivery
When the shipping carrier attempts delivery, you may refuse to accept the package.
Consequences of Refusing Delivery:
- The package will be returned to San Diego Car Stereo
- You will be charged return shipping costs, which will be deducted from your refund
- Return shipping costs typically range from $10-$50 depending on package size and weight
- A 10-15% restocking fee will be applied
- Refund will be processed once we receive the refused package (typically 7-14 business days)
Option 2: Accept Delivery and Return
Accept the package and follow our standard return process.
Return Process for Post-Shipment Cancellations:
- You must obtain return authorization (see our Returns & Refund Policy)
- You are responsible for return shipping costs
- A 10-15% restocking fee will apply
- Items must be returned in new, unused condition with all original packaging
- Refund will be processed within 48 hours of receiving and inspecting the returned item

ORDER MODIFICATIONS
Can I modify my order instead of cancelling?
Order modifications (changing items, quantities, shipping address, etc.) may be possible if requested within the same 6-12 hour cancellation window or immediately by phone thereafter.
To request an order modification:
- Email support@sdcarstereo.com or call (619) 928-5622 immediately
- Use subject line "ORDER MODIFICATION - [Your Order Number]" for emails
- Include your order number and the specific changes you need
- We will confirm whether the modification is possible
Common Modifications:
Address Changes:
- May be possible if order has not shipped
- Provide the corrected complete shipping address immediately
- We cannot redirect packages once they are in transit with the carrier
Item Changes:
- May be possible if items have not been picked and packed
- Depending on the change, we may need to cancel the original order and have you place a new order
- Price differences will be charged or refunded accordingly
Quantity Changes:
- May be possible if order has not been processed
- Additional items will be charged; reduced quantities will be refunded
Payment Method Changes:
- Not possible after order is placed due to PCI compliance and fraud prevention
- You must cancel the order and place a new order with the correct payment method
Not Possible:
- Modifications after the order has shipped
- Changes to special orders once confirmed
- Modifications outside the 6-12 hour window unless you call us immediately
DUPLICATE OR ACCIDENTAL ORDERS
If you accidentally placed a duplicate order or made an error during checkout:
- Contact us immediately at support@sdcarstereo.com or call (619) 928-5622
- Use "DUPLICATE ORDER" in the subject line for emails
- Provide both order numbers (if applicable) and explain the situation
- We will cancel the duplicate order at no charge if it has not yet shipped
Important Notes:
- We are not responsible for duplicate orders that result from multiple clicks, browser refreshes, or resubmitting payment forms
- Always wait for order confirmation before clicking "Place Order" or "Submit Payment" again
- Check your email for order confirmation before attempting to reorder
- Duplicate orders will be cancelled free of charge once verified
REFUNDS FOR CANCELLED ORDERS
Free Cancellation (Within 6-12 Hours, Before Shipment):
- Full refund issued to your original payment method
- No fees or deductions
- Refund processed within 24-48 hours of cancellation confirmation
- Refund appears in your account within 3-10 business days depending on your financial institution
Late Cancellation or Refused Delivery:
- Refund minus return shipping costs
- Restocking fee of 10-15% will be applied
- Refund processed within 48 hours of receiving the refused/returned package
- Refund appears in your account within 3-10 business days
Special Orders:
- No refunds for confirmed special orders
- If cancelled before confirmation, full refund issued
PAYMENT AUTHORIZATION HOLDS
When you place an order, your credit card or payment method is authorized immediately. If you cancel your order:
- The authorization hold will be released by San Diego Car Stereo within 24-48 hours
- Depending on your bank or credit card issuer, it may take 3-10 business days for the hold to be completely released from your account
- The authorization is not a charge - it is a temporary hold that reserves the funds
- If you have questions about authorization holds or timeline, contact your financial institution
If you see both an authorization hold and a pending charge, this is normal during processing. Once the cancellation is confirmed, both will be removed.
COMPANY-INITIATED CANCELLATIONS
San Diego Car Stereo reserves the right to cancel orders at our discretion in the following circumstances:
Reasons We May Cancel Your Order:
- Product unavailability or discontinuation
- Pricing errors on our website
- Payment authorization failures or declined payments
- Suspected fraudulent activity or high-risk transactions
- Shipping restrictions or carrier issues
- Inability to verify customer information
- Violation of our Terms of Service
- Acts of God, natural disasters, or other force majeure events
- Compliance with applicable laws or regulations
- Special order items that cannot be obtained from suppliers
If we cancel your order:
- You will be notified immediately via email
- You will receive a full refund with no fees or penalties
- Refund will be processed within 24-48 hours
- We will explain the reason for cancellation when possible
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by company-initiated cancellations and will work to resolve the issue or suggest alternatives when possible.
