The Alpine R2-W8D2 is a next-generation 8-inch subwoofer from the legendary R-Series line, engineered to deliver massive bass in a compact footprint. This 2nd-gen model features a larger motor structure and double-stacked magnets for authoritative low-end performance. It’s the ideal choice for those who need high-output bass but have limited space, such as behind truck seats or in compact sealed enclosures.

Seamless Connectivity
The R2-W8D2 is built with Dual 2-Ohm Voice Coils, providing maximum wiring flexibility to match your amplifier’s optimal impedance. It includes easy-to-use configuration jumpers that allow you to quickly switch between a 1-ohm or 4-ohm load. For wiring convenience, the spring terminals are all located on one side of the woofer and can accept bare wire up to 8AWG or banana plugs.
Safety & Convenience
To protect your investment, the subwoofer features an "EZ-Change" twist-lock grille mounting system. This allows you to easily install or remove the optional KTE-8G protective grille (sold separately) without needing extra mounting screws. The rugged construction and Kevlar-treated pulp cone ensure the woofer remains durable and reliable even during extended, high-volume listening sessions in the harsh automotive environment.
Enhanced Audio & Ambiance
This subwoofer is Hi-Res Audio Certified, ensuring your bass isn't just loud, but incredibly accurate. It utilizes a polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap that provides internal damping to smooth out frequency response and reduce distortion. The visual ambiance of your custom build is further enhanced by the clean, matte-black finish and the included cosmetic trim ring that hides the mounting hardware for a professional, stealthy look.
Fine Tune Your Sound
Alpine’s patented High-Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) Surround allows for a massive 12mm of linear excursion, enabling the small 8-inch cone to move a tremendous volume of air. This results in the "thump" usually reserved for much larger drivers. You can "fine-tune" the performance by choosing your enclosure: it performs exceptionally in a tiny 0.3 cu. ft. sealed box for tight, accurate kicks, or a 0.73 cu. ft. ported box for maximum SPL output.

Those guys are really professional! I had a new Alpine floating head unit installed in my 2008 Mercedes, and it feels like a brand-new car. The installation was super clean. At first, the sound wasn’t the same as the factory stereo, but Kevin tuned it to be just as good—if not better—without adding any new amps. They even used my factory GPS antenna so I don’t have extra wires hanging out. On top of that, they matched the online price. Big thanks to Kevin and Eddie—highly recommended!
Kevin was awesome, he took his time and explained everything to me. I went in initially for a dash cam install and then decided to get a sub and amp installed as well. Both turned out great and will be returning if I need more work done.

Highly recommend Kevin and the team at San Diego Car Stereo for any issues with aftermarket stereos. I bought a car with an aftermarket stereo and AC unit that wasn’t working properly—specifically, the heat wasn’t functioning due to an improper setup.
