Enhanced Punch & Reliability
The S2-W8D2 utilizes a cone constructed from a carbon fiber and polypropylene blend. This material choice ensures the woofer is lightweight and rigid, which minimizes distortion and provides a deep, rich "punch" that enhances the overall depth of your music. A polypropylene and ceramic dust cap adds further structural integrity for long-term reliability.
High-Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) Surround
This subwoofer features Alpine’s proprietary HAMR rubber surround technology. This multi-roll design allows the cone to move a significant amount of air while remaining cool and stable during intense playback. It supports 13mm of one-way linear excursion, delivering a level of accuracy and impact that is highly impressive for an 8-inch driver.
Flexible Installation
Equipped with Dual Voice Coils (DVC) and included configuration jumpers, the S2-W8D2 makes wiring simple. You can easily configure the sub for a 1-ohm or 4-ohm load to match your amplifier's output. It also features a twist-lock grille mounting system, allowing for the easy addition of an optional protective grille without the need for extra mounting screws.
Superior Power Management
The motor structure includes high-grade strontium ferrite magnets and a 1.4-inch high-temperature voice coil. These components allow the sub to handle 300W RMS consistently. For the best performance, it is a perfect power match for the Alpine S2-A60M mono amplifier, which can effortlessly power one or two of these 8-inch subwoofers.

Those guys are really professional! I had a new Alpine floating head unit installed in my 2008 Mercedes, and it feels like a brand-new car. The installation was super clean. At first, the sound wasn’t the same as the factory stereo, but Kevin tuned it to be just as good—if not better—without adding any new amps. They even used my factory GPS antenna so I don’t have extra wires hanging out. On top of that, they matched the online price. Big thanks to Kevin and Eddie—highly recommended!
Kevin was awesome, he took his time and explained everything to me. I went in initially for a dash cam install and then decided to get a sub and amp installed as well. Both turned out great and will be returning if I need more work done.
Came In not knowing what to expect when suddenly my stereo stopped working. Spoke with Kevin in the front and after a VERY fast diagnosing they discovered my wiring was incorrect. Highly recommend Kevin and the team at San Diego Car Stereo for any issues with aftermarket stereos. I bought a car with an aftermarket stereo and AC unit that wasn’t working properly—specifically, the heat wasn’t functioning due to an improper setup. I had several people look at it with no luck, and even the dealership basically refused to help because it was an aftermarket install.
