Product Overview:
The Alpine SS-SB12 is the 12-inch version of Alpine's ultra-shallow S-Series enclosures. Measuring only 5.25 inches deep, this unit is specifically designed for customers who want the deep, low-frequency impact of a 12-inch driver without sacrificing limited cabin or cargo space. Its downward-firing, sealed design allows it to be installed under seats or in truck cabs while remaining protected from shifting items.

Innovative Front-Mounted Motor
The SS-SB12 features a unique front-mounted neodymium magnet motor. By placing the motor assembly in front of the cone rather than behind it, Alpine significantly reduced the overall depth of the enclosure while still allowing for a massive 22mm of peak-to-peak linear excursion. This ensures the driver moves enough air to deliver true 12-inch bass performance from a shallow footprint.
Advanced Precise Bass Control
Equipped with Alpine’s Gen2 DD-Linear Magnetic Circuit technology, this subwoofer uses a dual-gap voice coil structure for maximum efficiency. This provides the driver with exceptional control over the motor, resulting in precise, punchy bass with lower distortion than typical shallow-mount designs.
Rugged, Weather-Resistant Build
Built to handle more than just a trunk environment, the enclosure is constructed from a rugged polymer composite that is IPX-rated for water resistance. This makes it an ideal choice for placement under seats where moisture from floor mats might be an issue, or for use in utility vehicles where durability is a top priority.
Flexible Down-Firing Installation
The enclosure includes four adjustable, foam-padded steel mounting brackets. These brackets can be oriented in multiple directions to fit various vehicle floors and contours, while the integrated foam padding helps reduce unwanted vibrations. The down-firing configuration naturally uses the vehicle's floor to reinforce the bass while shielding the speaker cone from damage.

Those guys are really professional! I had a new Alpine floating head unit installed in my 2008 Mercedes, and it feels like a brand-new car. The installation was super clean. At first, the sound wasn’t the same as the factory stereo, but Kevin tuned it to be just as good—if not better—without adding any new amps. They even used my factory GPS antenna so I don’t have extra wires hanging out. On top of that, they matched the online price. Big thanks to Kevin and Eddie—highly recommended!
Kevin was awesome, he took his time and explained everything to me. I went in initially for a dash cam install and then decided to get a sub and amp installed as well. Both turned out great and will be returning if I need more work done.

Highly recommend Kevin and the team at San Diego Car Stereo for any issues with aftermarket stereos.
