The Hertz ML 280.3 Legend is the flagship tweeter of the Hertz lineup, representing the absolute pinnacle of their "Sound Experience." Engineered to surpass its predecessor—a long-standing industry reference—this 35 mm (1.38 in) tweeter is designed for ultra-high-end active systems. By utilizing sophisticated FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations and high-grade materials like Tetolon and Neodymium, the ML 280.3 delivers a level of transparency and natural detail that brings a "live" performance directly to your dashboard.
Product Highlights
Oversized Tetolon® Dome: The 35 mm (1.38 in) housing features a specialized Tetolon fiber dome with optimized geometry. This material provides the perfect balance of low mass and high damping, ensuring the high frequencies are silky smooth and incredibly detailed without any of the "ringing" common in metal domes.
Enhanced Rear Acoustic Chamber: Hertz designers completely redesigned the rear chamber, achieving a 50% increase in volume over previous models. This larger space effectively lowers the resonance frequency to 900 Hz, allowing the tweeter to be crossed over much lower to improve the soundstage and vocal "presence" on the dash.
Flagship Motor Structure: The motor utilizes a high-density Neodymium magnet and a CNC-machined aluminum housing. This structure is mechanically inert, meaning it doesn't vibrate or add its own "color" to the sound, ensuring you hear only the pure recording as intended.
Pure Copper Shorting Ring: To further refine the high-end response, an extremely pure copper ring is integrated into the magnetic circuit. This reduces impedance modulation and harmonic distortion, allowing the speaker to extend clearly up to 28 kHz.

Those guys are really professional! I had a new Alpine floating head unit installed in my 2008 Mercedes, and it feels like a brand-new car. The installation was super clean. At first, the sound wasn’t the same as the factory stereo, but Kevin tuned it to be just as good—if not better—without adding any new amps. Kevin was awesome, he took his time and explained everything to me. I went in initially for a dash cam install and then decided to get a sub and amp installed as well. Both turned out great and will be returning if I need more work done.

Highly recommend Kevin and the team at San Diego Car Stereo for any issues with aftermarket stereos.
