JL Audio MediaMaster MM105-HR Premium Hidden Source Unit
The JL Audio MM105-HR is a "headless" marine source unit designed to be tucked away out of sight. It provides all the audiophile-grade performance of the flagship MM105 but dispenses with the physical screen and controls in favor of a concealed, space-saving installation. This makes it the ideal choice for modern glass-helm vessels where audio control is handled entirely through Multi-Function Displays (MFDs).
Key Features
NMEA 2000® Integration
The MM105-HR is NMEA 2000® Certified, allowing it to interface directly with compatible displays from brands like Garmin, Simrad, Lowrance, and Raymarine. You can control your volume, source, and zone settings directly from your MFD's interface. For physical control at the helm or in a cabin, it is also compatible with the MMR-40 Network Controller (sold separately).
Audiophile-Grade Architecture
Designed for high-end systems, this unit does not include a built-in amplifier. Instead, it features 12 channels of 4V RMS preamp outputs. This setup is optimized to provide a clean, noise-free signal to high-performance marine amplifiers, ensuring your music sounds crisp even at the high volumes required on open water.
Four Independent Audio Zones
Manage sound across your entire vessel with four nameable audio zones. Each zone features independent level and tone controls, as well as its own subwoofer output with a selectable low-pass crossover (60/80/100 Hz). The system also includes a Volume Limit feature, allowing you to set a maximum volume for specific areas like the cabin or sun deck.
Modern Digital Connectivity
The MM105-HR is built for digital media. It features Bluetooth® 5.0 with Qualcomm® aptX™ for high-fidelity wireless streaming and dual USB ports for direct iPhone/iPod control and charging. It also supports SiriusXM (with optional tuner) and includes a global AM/FM tuner with RDS for extended program information.

Those guys are really professional! I had a new Alpine floating head unit installed in my 2008 Mercedes, and it feels like a brand-new car. The installation was super clean. At first, the sound wasn’t the same as the factory stereo, but Kevin tuned it to be just as good—if not better—without adding any new amps. They even used my factory GPS antenna so I don’t have extra wires hanging out. On top of that, they matched the online price. Big thanks to Kevin and Eddie—highly recommended!
Kevin was awesome, he took his time and explained everything to me. I went in initially for a dash cam install and then decided to get a sub and amp installed as well. Both turned out great and will be returning if I need more work done.

Highly recommend Kevin and the team at San Diego Car Stereo for any issues with aftermarket stereos. I bought a car with an aftermarket stereo and AC unit that wasn’t working properly—specifically, the heat wasn’t functioning due to an improper setup.
